Having the perfect playlist for summer is paramount in making the most of all the season has to offer. Luckily for us, artists routinely step up to the plate and we get several contenders for the coveted “Song of the Summer” title. Though that answer might be different for everyone, there are a few songs that feel particularly important to summer 2024. As summer slowly comes to a close, we thought it apt to revisit some top contenders from this year–for posterities sake. What do you think? Are any of the four songs below the song of the summer?

4 Songs That Soundtracked Summer 2024

    1. “Good Luck, Babe!” (Chappell Roan)

Chappell Roan took her place as one of pop’s most enticing performers this summer. Between festival dates, opening slots on mega tours, and more, Roan claimed summer 2024 as her own. While several of her songs have been played on an endless loop over the last few months, there’s one that stands out for us: “Good Luck, Babe!” This ’80s-inspired ballad flexes Roan’s powerful vocals and knack for making ear worm melodies. Though the sentiment behind this song might not be all roses, it’s upbeat enough to pair well with the warmer months.

You can kiss a hundred boys in bars

Shoot another shot, try to stop the feeling

You can say it’s just the way you are

Make a new excuse, another stupid reason

Good luck, babe, well, good luck, babe

You’d have to stop the world just to stop the feelin

    2. “Please Please Please” (Sabrina Carpenter)

Sabrina Carpenter is another artist who rose to the top of the pop heap this summer. Her retro flavored plea for a boyfriend to play nice and save her ego, “Please Please Please”, became a familiar face on summer playlists everywhere. It also takes a spot on our list of songs from summer 2024. The tempo chance in the chorus is infectious and prompts endless presses of the “repeat” button. It terms of pure ubiquitousness, this song takes the cake.

Please please please don’t prove I’m right

    Please please please

Don’t bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice

    Heartbreak is one thing

    My egos another

I beg you don’t embarass me

    Mother f***er ahhh

    Please please please

    3. “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” (Billie Eilish)

Billie Eilish’s album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, was a taste-making moment in music this summer. Eilish, who never disappoints, pulled through once again with a host of memorable tracks. Among that list was “BIRDS OF A FEATHER.” This sugary sweet track was a departure for Eilish, who isn’t afraid to get dark and deep. It was a welcomed one at that. This summer wouldn’t have been the same without this love struck Eilish hit.

Birds of a feather, we should stick together, I know

    I said I’d never think I wasn’t better alone

Can’t change the weather, might not be forever

But if it’s forever, it’s even better

    4. “360” (Charli xcx)

It was truly a Brat Summer. Charli xcx’s club-coded album made listeners everywhere feel like they were invited to an exclusive party thrown by the enigmatic pop maven herself. While several cuts from the album gained traction, it was “360” that became her calling card. That track claims the last slot on our songs of summer playlist. The opening trill of this song is unmistakable. When this one comes on, you know it’s time to get things started.

    Drop down, yeah

    Put the camera flash on

    So stylish

    Baby, tears all gone

    Drop down, yeah

    Lookin’ like an icon

    Work angles, yeah
