Being one of two living members of arguably the most influential band of all time gives you license to do pretty much whatever you want. For Sir Paul McCartney, sometimes that means “popping up onstage out of nowhere to deliver your best Neil Young impression.” The legendary “Live and Let Die” rocker did just that Tuesday (Aug. 20) during an intimate show in the Hamptons.

Stephen Talkhouse, a live music venue in the ritzy Long Island community of The Hamptons, can only fit about 250 people. On Tuesday (Aug. 20), roughly that many packed the building to witness a one-off concert from producer Andrew Watt and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. And all 250 of them got the shock of their lives when Paul McCartney showed up.

Reportedly, McCartney joined Smith and Watt for a spirited rendition of “I Saw Her Standing There,” off the Beatles’ 1963 UK debut Please Please Me.

The legendary 82-year-old bassist moved with the vigor of a much younger artist. He also joined singer-songwriter Charlotte Lawrence, Watt’s girlfriend, for a rousing cover of Neil Young’s 1991 smash “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

Yahoo reported that Watt is involved in an upcoming McCartney album, “although details remain scant.” They previously worked together on the Rolling Stones’ 2023 album Hackney Diamonds, which Watt produced. The former Wings frontman guest starred on the track “Bite My Head Off.”

From coaching on The Voice to carrying the Olympic torch, Snoop Dogg’s face is everywhere these days. Still, the West Coast icon was surprised to learn of Paul McCartney’s admiration for him.

“I did a little concert for somebody in Hollywood. Paul McCartney was there. I never met him before, but I’m a f—ing fan of The Beatles,” Snoop told Complex.

He continued, “I’m in the back smoking and they’re like, ‘Sir Paul would like to meet you.’ I’m like, ‘Oh for real? Hold on.’

Unaware of the superstar’s penchant for cannabis, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper put out his blunt.

“[Cuz] walk in the room like, ‘Don’t put that down!’ He give me a hug and he meet me and I’m like, ‘F–k, Paul McCartney know who the f–k Snoop Dogg is!’” Snoop exclaimed.
