Having been part of country music since the 1980s, Garth Brooks proved himself to be a top performer in the genre. Throughout the years, he sold over 170 million albums and gained entry into both the Country Music and Songwriters Hall of Fame. Considered one of the best-selling music artists in the world, the country star recently took a moment to celebrate not his career, but the one of his wife, Trisha Yearwood. With Yearwood receiving the ACM Honors Icon Award, Brooks decided to praise the success that followed her.

On August 21st, Brooks and Yearwood celebrated her prosperous career at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Receiving the ACM Honors Icon Award, Yearwood appeared all smiles. While letting her soak in the moment, Brooks decided to share a heartfelt message on his website. Posting pictures of the two at the event, the country singer wrote, “I was just so proud. I’m always proud of her, but to see and hear her recognized like that – and to hear people use the word ‘icon’ in the same breath as her name – just took me someplace new.”

Although fans of music know the power that Yearwood holds behind a mic, Brooks insisted, “She is an icon. I know what a world-class talent and force she is…and we all know what an incredible vocalist she is…but I love it when others really take notice, too.”

Besides being a powerful singer, Brooks praised his wife’s ability to add love to each song. “Trisha took things that mean the world to her – family and memories of her dad and mom and her sister – and shared them with the whole world in a way no one else has really done with her cookbooks and TV show.”

While Brooks celebrated her career in music, he also honored her role as a mother. “The impact she has had on our daughters by showing them by example that women can not only become whatever they can dream, but also be the best at it. That’s iconic.”

Already creating a wonderful career, Brooks promised the best moments are yet to come for Yearwood. “I think Trisha’s next iconic moments are yet to come. And they may be her most iconic yet.”
