Embracing genres like rock, heavy metal, and folk, Heart produced classic songs like “Crazy on You”, “What About Love”, and “Alone.” But besides releasing hit songs and sixteen studio albums, Heart also landed a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2013. While still entertaining fans all over the world, the band shared the heartbreaking news that Heart would need to cancel most of their 2024 tour due to Ann Wilson’s health issues. With fans saddened by the news, Nancy Wilson recently revealed that a new album could be on the way.

Continuing to support Ann as she focuses on her health, Nancy sat down with Ultimate Classic Rock to discuss what the future might hold for the band. Not knowing when the band will return to the stage, Nancy shared some good news for fans. “We’re actually in talks about an acoustic album, while we’re waiting to go back out on the tour, which I think it’d be just a perfect use of our time. Because me and the band guys could put these acoustic Heart songs together in ways that are kind of an unexpected way of doing [and] hearing Heart songs, fresh again.”

Nancy Wilson Shares Inspiration Behind New Album

While revealing Heart was working on a new album, Nancy refrained from giving the new music a timeline. Just working on getting the sound right, Nancy suggested the new album could hit shelves before they return to the stage.

Giving some insight into how the new album came about, Nancy recalled adding some acoustic portions to their concert. Albe to play a few concerts in 2024, she said, “We sat and we talked about the songs, a little storytelling. And we did Heart stuff and we did ‘Goin’ to California’ by Zeppelin.” Liking the direction, Nancy continued, “The aspirational aspect of [the acoustic segment] was real obvious when you were watching the audience listening to it. They were really listening and they were really getting something from it, and in some cases they were crying.”

With Heart releasing their last album, Beautiful Broken, back in 2016, a new album would mark the band’s return to the airwaves.
