Pop stars have come and gone, leaving behind a musical legacy that is still respected and enjoyed today. However, quite a few of the earliest pop stars are still around today, even though most of them have since retired. Let’s look at five of the oldest living female pop stars!

    1. Jane Morgan

Famed singer and traditional pop artist Jane Morgan is 100 years old as of 2024. Morgan was a huge hit in France and England at the start of her career, but she eventually gained fame in the US.

She has six gold records under her belt and is often considered one of the original greats of Broadway and one of the OG nightclub socialites. The gowns she wore on stage, particularly in the 1950s through the 1980s, are also a point of interest for her fans. “Fascination” and “What Now My Love” are essential listening.

    2. Teddie Chinery

London-born Teddie Chinery is 97 years old as of 2024. She was part of the traditional pop girl group The Beverly Sisters. You might recognize the band’s charm and vocal harmony from songs like “Sisters” and their particular rendition of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”.

The group performed off and on through the 2000s and even made the Guinness World Records in 2002 for being the longest-surviving vocal group without a change in lineup. Chinery is the sole living member of the group today and is retired.

    3. Petula Clark

British singer/songwriter Petula Clark is 91 years old as of 2024. She began her career as a child entertaining during World War II. She has quite a list of hits under her belt in her native UK, from “The Little Shoemaker” to “Romeo” to “Chariot”. She’s also known for recording tracks in multiple languages, including French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Clark currently spends most of her days at her home in Geneva, Switzerland and has more or less retired.

    4. Yoko Ono

When one thinks of Yoko Ono, one usually doesn’t think of pop music. However, Ono did produce a few pop-leaning songs during her heyday and deserves a spot on this list of oldest living female pop stars. Ono is 91 years old as of 2024.

The genres she made music in, sometimes with her late husband John Lennon, range from pop to avant-garde to neo-Dada to experimental rock and noise. Her last solo album was Warzone from 2018. Today, Ono has mostly retired and stepped away from public life.
