Back in April, Colt Ford collapsed following a show at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in Gilbert, Arizona. The country-rap star was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at the Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, where medical professionals determined he had suffered a heart attack. Initially given a 0.1 percent chance at life, Ford has steadily worked toward reclaiming his health. On Tuesday (Aug. 27) the “Dirt Road Anthem” singer (born Jason Farris Brown) took to social media to celebrate a milestone that was once not guaranteed.

Colt Ford has never much cared about birthdays. However, Tuesday (Aug. 27) was different as the Georgia native celebrated 55 years of life.

“Today, I care a lot… because I never thought I would get to have this one,” Ford said in a video posted to Instagram.

The “Cold Beer” singer thanked his wife, family, friends, kids and fans for the support and birthday wishes. “I got a second chance at life,” he said. “And I’m down here living the hell out of it.”

American Idol finalist Will Moseley dropped by the comments section to share his support. “Happy Birthday Boss!” wrote the season 22 runner-up.

Others expressed their encouragement at seeing Ford looking so hearty. “Such an encouraging sight!” one Instagram user wrote. “Keep pushing fam keep pushing.”

Fans Have Watched Ford’s Recovery In Real Time

Fans learned exactly how serious Colt Ford’s condition had been when the hitmaker phoned in to the Big D and Bubba Show April 23. “Apparently we played this great sold-out show,” said Ford, who doesn’t remember performing. “I walked out to the bus, texted my fiancée, ‘Hi baby,’ and fell over dead.”

Ford has kept fans in the know since his near-fatal heart attack, often popping onto Instagram to share health-related updates.

“Last week kind of kicked my butt a little,” he said in a July video. Ford then revealed he had made several trips to the emergency room due to infections.

“The devil ain’t gonna get me though,” he added. “Yeah, the setback ain’t as good as the get back. I’ll see y’all soon.”
