Although taking some time from the stage, Willie Nelson continues to tour the country at 91 years old. First stepping on the stage during the 1950s, the singer appeared to embrace what it means to be country. Besides releasing dozens of albums and winning countless awards, Nelson shined a spotlight on the genre of outlaw country. Outside of the studio, Nelson also produced a sizable family. Having numerous children, it appeared the talents of Nelson extended to his children like Lukas Nelson. Shaping his own career in music, Lukas once channeled his father when he decided to perform “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground.”

With the auditorium packed with fans, Lukas took a slow approach to the performance. Letting the notes hang in the air, the singer seemed at ease as he covered just one of his father’s most iconic songs. Although fans in attendance cheered on his performance, Lukas received more than enough praise online.

Lukas Nelson Discusses Performing With His Father

Looking at the comment section, fans wrote, “One of my all-time favorite songs!! So glad he is out keeping this going.” One comment added, “My word. He is almost the spitting image. Lol Woowee!!! I love it.”

Throughout his time in music, Lukas performed alongside several legends in country music. But to him, there is nothing like performing with his father. When talking about getting the chance to go on the road with his father, Lukas insisted, “I’ve always supported him and been in his band when I could. … The plan is to be there for him more in the coming years and coming months. It’s just a great feeling to be on the road with your dad.”

As for his own writing style, Lukas opened up about his gift to see things from another perspective. “I have a knack for putting myself in others’ shoes when I write. I like to … put myself in the mind and the heart and spirit of someone else and try and write from a different perspective sometimes.” And it seems to work as the singer continues to expand his career and fanbase.
