During the 70s and 80s, country music welcomed two of the most recognizable singers to enter the genre. Throughout the decades, both Alan Jackson and George Strait proved themselves to be more than singers as they appeared to embrace the lifestyle of country music. With no gimmicks or lavish sets, the singers used nothing more than their voices to entertain millions of fans all over the world. But while their careers led them in different paths, in 2014, the singers joined forces for a special performance of “Amarillo By Morning.”

Back in June 2014, Strait took over the AT&T Stadium with his The Cowboy Rides Away tour. With thousands packing the arena, Strait took the stage and produced one of the most memorable concerts in country music. But not wanting to steal the spotlight, the country legend decided to celebrate the evening with Jackson. Sharing a simple handshake, the two gifted the crowd with a performance that continues to entertain fans.

With the performance making its way online, fans gushed over the two country icons, writing, “Let’s see how many agree with me on this. In my opinion Alan Jackson is the only other artist that can do George Strait songs any kind of justice. They are both country music legends.” Another comment included, “The fact that Alan Jackson waits in the back for his queue and how Strait looked at him shows why country is the best genre, they all respect and admire each other.”

    Alan Jackson Discusses Farewell Tour

Although loving every minute on stage, Jackson recently discussed his struggles with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and his farewell tour. Releasing a statement on his website, the singer wrote, “Fans know when they come to my shows, they’re going to hear the songs that made me who I am – the ones they love.”

Having spent the majority of his life on stage, Jackson seemed to enjoy life at home. “I’ve been touring for over 30 years – my daughters are all grown, we have one grandchild and one on the way…and I’m enjoying spending more time at home. But my fans always show up to have a good time, and I’m going to give them the best show I can for this Last Call.”

As for his health, Jackson didn’t try to hide his condition, admitting, “It’s genetic that I inherited from my daddy. There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious.”
