Jacquie Roar belted her way to the season 24 finale of The Voice, where she finished fourth. Since her time on the show ended, Roar has dropped two singles, “Learn About Love” and “Bad Habit.” Now, the singer-songwriter is floating on Cloud 9 after an unexpected encounter with Jelly Roll led to the opportunity of a lifetime.

Jelly Roll Recognized ‘The Voice’ Finalist

Jacquie Roar was among several artists invited to perform at the Oregon State Penitentiary last Monday (Sept. 2.) And she was in good company, as country megastar Jelly Roll also sang for the level three inmates.

Clearly, Jelly Roll needed no introduction—but neither did Roar. “I followed you as soon as I saw you performed my song on The Voice,’” the CMT Award winner told her, according to Country Now.

Jelly was referring to Roar’s dazzling take on his hit “Need a Favor” in the season 24 Battle rounds. And since then, the singer-songwriter has dreamed of singing it again—this time alongside the man himself.

Jelly Roll was all too happy to make that dream come true. The GRAMMY nominee invited Roar (real name: Jacquie Butler) onstage at the very beginning of his set.

Roar gushed about her “full circle moment” in a social media post Tuesday (Sept. 3.) “I can’t believe that it’s been a year since my battle with Bias on The Voice and here I am singing the same song, ‘Need a Favor’ for an even bigger purpose,” she wrote. “Changing people’s lives. Giving humans the gift of music and therapy. I am so overwhelmed with joy. God is good. Jelly Roll is good too.”

“Pure Magic” Fans React to Jacquie Roar and Jelly Roll Duet

Several fans of The Voice were equally enthused in the comments. “I am freaking crying. When you and Bias sang this on the voice, the earth shifted on its axis- and now THIS!!!!” one Instagram user wrote. “What a true full circle moment. Pure magic!!”

Roar herself still seemed in shock when she spoke to Country Now about the experience. She and the “Save Me” singer are the same age (39), and both have overcome trauma and tragedy to pursue their dreams.

“It’s such an honor when you are validated by somebody that you are truly inspired by,” she said.
