When you’re heartbroken and going through the emotions that come out of an awful breakup, nothing hits the spot like a good country playlist. Many country songs about breakups revolve around revenge narratives, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, it’s just not everybody’s cup of tea. If that sounds like you, here are a few uplifting country breakup songs to have a good cry to. You’ll come out the other side in a better place, we promise!

    1. “When It Rains It Pours” by Luke Combs

Luke Combs is the kind of country artist who knows just what to sing to get your spirits up. “When It Rains It Pours” is just one of many of his songs that have that kind of magic, but it’s definitely more relevant to someone who needs a pick-me-up after a rough breakup. We’d be bold enough to say that this is one of the most uplifting country breakup songs ever. The song is about a young man who finds a lot of luck in his life after his girlfriend dumps him. It’s a sweet song with just the right amount of positivity.

    2. “Record Year” by Eric Church

This 2016 track from Eric Church did pretty well on the Billboard charts, and for good reason. It’s a unique little country song about a man who deals with his broken heart by jamming to a collection of vinyl records. The references in “Record Year” are solid, and the overall vibe of the song is just what a music-lover needs to mend their broken heart.

    3. “Leaving Tennessee” by Cross Canadian Ragweed

We wouldn’t say this song by Cross Canadian Ragweed is particularly sweet or positive. It’s full of expletives, so much so that the song takes on a comedic sort of feel. “F*** you and f*** Nashville, I’m leavin’ Tennessee” is pretty relatable to anyone who went through a rough breakup in the hometown of country music. It’s not positive, but the comedy aspect is pretty uplifting.

    4. “Mowin’ Down The Roses” by Jamey Johnson

Jamey Johnson is one of the most underrated country singers and songwriters of our generation. “Mowin’ Down The Roses” is one of his very best with a much more comedic, silly edge to it compared to Johnson’s more serious songs. It’s about a man who just went through a bad breakup; but instead of wallowing in misery, he decides to mow down the roses that his ex planted in his yard, as well as a number of her other possessions. Sometimes, you just gotta take out the trash. And there’s nothing quite like a fresh start after a rough breakup.
