With four No. 1 albums, 17 GRAMMY Awards, and even a Pulitzer Prize, Kendrick Lamar is at the top of his rap game. The 37-year-old Compton, California native has made some of the most incisive, urgent hip-hop music of the 21st century. And next year, he’ll make his second appearance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show—this time as the headliner. The “Euphoria” rapper gave social media a glimpse of his performance on Sunday (Sept. 8.)

Kendrick Lamar Wants to Know If You’ll Be “Pulling Up”

Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show on Feb. 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL made the official announcement Sunday morning (Sept. 8.) The “Like That” hitmaker confirmed the news with his own social media post the same day.

“Super Bowl LIX. New Orleans,” Lamar wrote on X/Twitter, including a link to a video on his YouTube channel. The video certainly gets the message across, showing Lamar sitting on a football field in front of a massive American flag.

“What the deal, everybody? My name Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX,” says the Academy Award nominee in a voiceover. “Will you be pulling up? I hope so.”

Comments on the thread indicate that many people certainly will be. “Not Like Us in front of 83,000 people,” commented sports betting company FanDuel.

Added another fan: “I don’t usually watch the Super Bowl, but I’ll absolutely be watching for the Kendrick concert.”

Did Kendrick Diss Drake With His Super Bowl Announcement?

News of Kendrick Lamar’s second-ever Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance comes amid the “HUMBLE” artist’s highly-publicized feud with Canadian rapper Drake. And many social media users believe Lamar seized the opportunity to get in one more jab at the “God’s Plan” artist.

“You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship,” Lamar said during a video announcing his Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show performance. “No round 2s.”

Some Reddit users interpreted this as a slight against Drake. The “Hotline Bling” rapper allegedly referred to a “Round 2” with Lamar on his personal Instagram account.

“Definitely a diss. In a Super Bowl ad,” one Reddit user wrote. “I think we’re actually winning TOO much.”
