All in a Day’s Work: Jon Bon Jovi Saves a Woman’s Life While Recording a Music Video in Nashville

Jon Bon Jovi is a rock icon. Many fans would even call him a hero. However, for one woman, that title carries a little more weight. Yesterday (September 10), while filming a music video in Nashville, the “It’s My Life” singer talked a distraught woman out of jumping off of the John Sigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge which stretches over the Cumberland River.

Bon Jovi teamed up with The War & Treaty for “The People’s House.” They released the collaborative single on August 30. Yesterday, they were in Music City filming the music video for the song when Bon Jovi reportedly saw a woman who had climbed over the bridge’s railing. Hoping to de-escalate the situation and save a life, he approached her. Watch the interaction in the video below.

In the clip, the woman stands on the bridge looking into the river below. Bon Jovi and another individual approach the woman and speak to her for a moment. Unfortunately, the video has no sound. As a result, it’s not clear what they said to her. However, whatever they said appears to have been effective. Less than a minute after the interaction began, the rock icon and the other individual helped the distraught woman climb back over the bridge’s railing to safety.

Bon Jovi continued his conversation with the woman after she had stepped back over the rail. At one point, he offers to hug her and she accepts. After the embrace, they exchange a few more words before walking away and the video ends.

Being a Hero Is Not New for Jon Bon Jovi

According to a TMZ report, dealing with people in crisis is nothing new for Jon Bon Jovi. In fact, sources told the publication that he regularly deals with people facing homelessness, food insecurity, and other issues through the JBJ Soul Foundation. More importantly, the rock icon has received extensive training on how to deal with people in crisis. This seems to be the rare instance in which his heroism became public knowledge.

The Metro Nashville Police Department praised him on social media. “A shout out to Jon Bon Jovie and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler [Pedestrian] Bridge Tue night,” the department shared in a tweet. Chief John Drake added a statement to the post saying, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
