Concerts are always a one-of-a-kind experience for fans, but sometimes the shows have an even greater meaning.
Over the last year, several artists have taken their show on the road, playing venues across the world to sold out crowds. Some have even broken stadium records along the way, whether it be for attendance numbers or nights played.
Keep reading to see some of the record-breaking shows that fans have witnessed over the last year.
Burna Boy
Burna Boy has been in the record-breaking business for years. Back in 2022, the 33-year-old singer became the first Nigerian artist to both headline and sell out New York City’s Madison Square Garden when he performed his One Night in Space show there.
The following year, Burna Boy entered the record conversation again, this time becoming the first African artist to sell out a stadium. Burna Boy accomplished that feat when he headlined Citi Field in NYC, performing tracks to nearly 42,000 fans.
After the show, Burna Boy said he was made “truly speechless” by the experience.
“Last night was a movie,” he wrote on Instagram.
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran‘s Mathematics Tour has already broken several records—and he still has more shows to go!
Throughout the tour, Sheeran broke the attendance record previously set by Taylor Swift at venues in Nashville and New Jersey, and surpassed other past attendance records in Chicago and Massachusetts.
Sheeran has plenty of time to add to that list, as he has shows scheduled through September 2025.
George Strait
Earlier this summer, George Strait returned to his home state of Texas to play a record-breaking show at Kyle Field in College Station. The show was a huge smash, with 110,905 fans making it the biggest single ticketed concert in U.S. history.
Days after the concert, Strait posted about the experience on Facebook, writing, “I’ve always said I’ve got the best fans in the world and Saturday night at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas says it all.”
“Thanks to Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman who were both a huge part of that night and thanks to all of you Aggies out there who made this happen,” Strait continued. “What a special place!! I will always remember you.”
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour has been a topic of conversation since its 2023 debut. That was never more true than at the conclusion of Swift’s eight-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium.
That final performance allowed Swift to surpass Michael Jackson’s record for the number of times an artist played a show at the venue during a single tour. Jackson set the initial record in 1988 when he brought his Bad Tour to the stadium for seven nights.
“You just made me the first solo artist to ever play Wembley eight times in a single tour,” Swift said during her show, according to BBC News. “We will never, ever be able to thank you enough for it.”
After the fact, Swift took to Instagram to marvel at the “beautiful dream sequence” of her London shows.
“The energy in that stadium was like the most giant bear hug from 92,000 people each night, and it brought me back to a place of carefree and calm up there,” she wrote.
The Eras Tour will officially end this year, with Swift’s final scheduled performance set for Dec. 8 in Vancouver, Canada.
