Formed in 1985, Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Eric Avery, and Dave Navarro joined forces to create Jane’s Addiction. Although going through some growing pains over the years, the band was one of the first successful groups to come from the alternative rock era in music. Gaining fame and success on the stage, the band produced four studio albums with, The Great Escape Artist, releasing in 2011. Although it has been over a decade since the band released new music, Jane’s Addiction recently made headlines when Farrell decided to attack Navarro on stage.

Taking over the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, Massachusetts, thousands of fans packed into the venue to watch Jane’s Addiction. And as the band took the stage, all seemed to be right as the concert kicked off. Towards the end of the set, the group was cruising through “Ocean Size” when Farrell walked over the Navarro and bumped him in the shoulder. That simple bump turned violent as Farrell continued to antagonize the musician. Eventually, staff came out and tried to create some distance between Farrell and Navarro. While Farrell appeared like he wanted to fight, Navarro did everything within his power to keep the peace.

Perry Farrell Struggled To Get Through Another Concert

Discussing the incident online, some fans explained how Farrell seemed to slur through some of the songs during the concert. Believing the singer was either drunk or high, fans wrote, “I love how Navarro is still playing the guitar outro even while Farrel is attacking him. That’s commitment.” Another person added, “I had a number of cocktails tonight so tough for me to adequately process this but Jesus Christ, Perry is 65 years old. So…yeah.”

While trying to fight his fellow bandmates, Farrell had a difficult week as he once again stumbled through a set when Jane’s Addiction performed in New York City. At the time, the singer addressed the crowd, apologizing for the mishap. “Ladies and gentlemen, I have to be honest with you. Something’s wrong with my voice. I just can’t get the notes out all of a sudden.”

Although gaining support from fans, the future of Jane’s Addiction hangs in the balance as Farrell can barely make it through a concert without throwing punches.
