Chris Stapleton Gives Carrie Underwood a Run for Her Money With His ‘Monday Night Football’ Week 2 Performance

People from all walks of life tune in to watch Monday Night Football. For a few hours every week, the only differences that matter are the teams for which sports fans are rooting. So, it only seems fitting that the weekly program’s theme song would bring together artists from different genres. No one would have imagined that Chris Stapleton and Snoop Dogg would jump on a song together, let alone Phil Collins’ iconic “In the Air Tonight.” But, the folks at ESPN made it happen and fans can’t get enough—especially for Week 2’s showdown.

Tonight’s game is a battle of the birds with the Atlanta Falcons facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, fans were coming out of their seats before the coin toss. Football fans are clearly all about Stapleton and Snoop’s theme.

In fact, some fans are even going as far as to say it rivals—or overtakes—Carrie Underwood’s Sunday Night Football anthem as the best theme song in football. “Not hot take: The MNF song with Chris Stapleton and Snoop blows Carrie Underwood’s SNF song out of the damn water,” one fan wrote on X. Another used noted, “Chris Stapleton’s Monday night football intro is better than Carrie Underwood’s Sunday night football intro, I said what I said.” Adding to the pro-Stapleton movement, another fan simply stated, “Chris Stapleton MNF song > Carrie Underwood SNF song.”

While it’s tough to dethrone Underwood’s iconic Sunday Night Football jingle, Stapleton clearly gives the American Idol judge a run for her money. Ultimately, football’s better when both country powerhouses are singing us into kickoff.

Monday Night Football has always had a banger for a theme song. For a while, Hank Williams Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night” helped to get fans pumped for the show. Now, Stapleton, Snoop, and Cindy Blackman Santana (drums) are getting folks fired up. Fans may not have been waiting for this moment for their whole lives, but that doesn’t make hearing the MNF theme any less exciting.
