He’s namedropped many more than these three rock singers, but we think these particular vocalists that Slash thinks are the greatest are quite interesting. We certainly trust his opinion. Let’s look into three rock singers that Slash has said are the greatest of all time!

    1. Mick Jagger

Mick Jagger knows how to sing and command an audience with just his voice (and a few sick dance moves, of course). That’s a big part of why The Rolling Stones got as big as they did. Jagger is certainly an influential figure, and Slash has not ignored that. In fact, Slash has named them in the past when talking about bands he listened to as a kid.

Slash has said that Cream, The Yardbirds, and The Rolling Stones were a few big ones that got him into rock music as a wee lad. Jagger and Slash have been seen together and collaborated briefly, so they clearly have a friendly relationship.

    2. Michael Jackson

He’s more on the pop side, but we think Michael Jackson is worth mentioning here. One might think that Jackson was not “rock” enough for Slash to pay attention to. But apparently, the Guns N’ Roses guitarist was quite a fan of his vocal ability.

A few years ago in an interview, Slash looked back at his first time meeting the King of Pop. Allegedly, Slash’s manager told him that Jackson wanted to get in touch with him to play guitar on Dangerous. The two met up at the Record Plant and Slash recorded some riffs.

“He was such a f***ing talent from on high,” said Slash of Jackson. “That was the main thing: he was so amazingly musically fluid. Such a treat to be around.”

    3. Axl Rose

Did he bring up Axl Rose just because they’re basically coworkers? We don’t think so; Slash isn’t the kind of guy to lie. On the contrary, these two have been working together for decades, so Slash has seen and heard each and every evolution of Rose’s voice.

“I’d worked with different singers on and off for a while, and then when I met Axl and we started jamming together, he was the only singer that ever brought an emotional content to it that affected me on an emotional level, on an energy level,” Slash said of Axl Rose a few years ago.

Slash has also said that Rose’s vocals changed his view of music. Now that’s some serious praise.
