Barbra Streisand, Reba McEntire, and More Pay Tribute to Kris Kristofferson

Music legend Kris Kristofferson passed away on September 28 at the age of 88, and tributes from fans, friends, and contemporaries have been rolling in on social media. Barbra Streisand recently made a post about her time working with Kristofferson, while Reba McEntire and more musicians paid their respects as well.

“The first time I saw Kris performing at the Troubadour club in L.A. I knew he was something special. Barefoot and strumming his guitar, he seemed like the perfect choice for a script I was developing, which eventually became A Star Is Born,” Streisand wrote on Twitter.

She continued, “For my latest concert in 2019 at London’s Hyde Park, I asked Kris to join me on-stage to sing our other A Star Is Born duet, ‘Lost Inside Of You.’ He was as charming as ever, and the audience showered him with applause. It was a joy seeing him receive the recognition and love he so richly deserved.”

Streisand also shared her support and thoughts for Kristofferson’s wife, “who I know supported him in every way possible.”

Fellow Musicians and Friends Pay Respects to Kris Kristofferson, Who Passed Away at Age 88

Reba McEntire made a post on Instagram remembering Kris Kristofferson. She posted a photo of them singing together, writing, “What a gentleman, kind soul, and a lover of words. I am so glad I got to meet him and be around him. One of my favorite people.”

Dolly Parton honored Kristofferson as well. “What a great loss,” she began, calling Kristofferson a “great writer,” “great actor,” and “great friend.” She signed off with a heartfelt, “I will always love you.”

In addition, Darius Rucker paid tribute to Kristofferson on Twitter. Alongside a photo of Kristofferson, he wrote, “We lost one of the kindest most beautiful souls that God gave us. I will miss u my friend. I love u Kris, I just love u man!!”

Other tributes came in from contemporaries who had crossed paths with Kristofferson, as well as long-time friends in the music industry. LeAnn Rimes and Travis Tritt posted on social media, calling Kristofferson “an epic human with the kindest heart” and “an inspiration,” respectively.

Lee Greenwood posted about the support he received from Kristofferson when he won his first CMA Male Vocalist of the Year award. “His friendship and encouragement helped validate my career in country music and my place in Nashville,” Greenwood wrote.
