The Voice first aired in 2011. 26 seasons later, viewers continue turning in. Part of the show’s appeal lies in its willingness to evolve, bringing in new coaches and a fresh crop of aspiring musicians each year. This season brings two brand-new faces in first-time coaches Michael Buble and Snoop Dogg. However, a touch of familiarity is always welcome. If you’ve been watching since the very beginning, you might have spotted a familiar face during Tuesday’s (Sept. 30) Blind Auditions episode.

‘The Voice’ Fan Favorite Earns Two-Chair Turn

Kelsey Ray was just 20 years old when she stepped onto The Voice set with a dream. Her Blind Audition performance of Estelle’s “American Boy” earned a three-chair turn from coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green.

Ray chose Team CeeLo, and was eliminated in the Battles after singing Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” against The Thompson Sisters.

Now, with more than a decade of experience under her belt, Ray has returned to The Voice. This time, she’s performing as Felsmere.

“In Season 1, I was young and timid,” Felsmere said prior to her Blind Audition. “I’m coming in with a new sound, and I hope the coaches love it.”

Felsmere performed a throaty, sultry spin on “Some Kind of Wonderful,” made famous by Grand Funk Railroad in 1974.

Coaches Michael Buble, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani couldn’t resist grooving to the beat in their chairs. No one went harder than Buble, who eventually smashed his red button to turn his chair.

Stefani followed soon after. Snoop Dogg appeared to seriously consider turning, but apparently held back for strategic reasons.

    Who Did She Choose?

Ultimately, the Florida-raised artist chose Team Gwen. “Felsmere came to Season 1 of The Voice, and now she’s back for Season 26,” Stefani said. “Everything she was trying, she was landing. She’s consistent and her tone is just undeniable. I’m really excited to pick songs for her.”

We can’t wait to watch Gwen guide this old-school fan favorite on her path to redemption.
