Throughout his amazing career in music, Elton John produced over 30 studio albums and sold a staggering 300 million records. He also watched as the industry covered him with accolades like Grammys, Academy Awards, and Tony Awards. Truly an icon in music, the singer eventually found his way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Recently, John celebrated his career at the premiere of the new documentary Elton John: Never Too Late. Exploring his time in the spotlight, the singer admitted “There’s not much of me left” at 77 years old.

Although age is just a number, John pointed to the struggles he had with his health over the last few years. While speaking on the red carpet of the premiere, he insisted, “To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left. I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate, I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip.”

Elton John Found Love And Peace With David Furnish

While needing numerous surgeries, John promised his fans, “I’m still here.” Back in 2023, the singer decided to retire from touring, but that didn’t mean he was done performing as he entertained the crowd at the premiere with a performance of “Tiny Dancer.” About his retirement, John explained, “I decided to stop touring because I’m 77 years of age. I’ve done all there is to do, to play. I’ve succeeded. I’ve been there and I’ve done it.”

Besides stepping away from touring, John found peace not just with his career but also with his personal life. While thanking fans for their continued support, the icon also gushed over his husband David Furnish. “I found complete and utter happiness and bliss when I met David and when I had my children, our children. And it satisfied me so much. I’ve never felt happiness like I have now.”

Don’t miss Elton John: Never Too Late, releasing December 13th on Disney+. For those who can’t wait, the film will hit theaters for a limited time starting November 15th.
