Pink Floyd‘s David Gilmour recently had some bold words when he was asked by a fan if he would ever work with Roger Waters again. During a Q&A with The Guardian, where fans asked questions, Gilmour spoke about a variety of topics, from his favorite guitars to what the “Comfortably Numb” guitar solo means to him. Additionally, someone asked about his thoughts on Roger Waters.

When asked if they would ever work together again, Gilmour replied, “Absolutely not. I tend to steer clear of people who actively support genocidal and autocratic dictators like Putin and Maduro [president of Venezuela].”

Waters has been vocal about his divisive political stances in the past. Just last year he claimed during a speech at the United Nations that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was “provoked,” according to a report from the BBC.

Gilmour continued, “Nothing would make me share a stage with someone who thinks such treatment of women and the LGBT community is OK.”

David Gilmour Won’t Work with Roger Waters, But He Does Hold Great Respect for Late Pink Floyd Member

David Gilmour may not want to work with Roger Waters ever again, but he did share that he holds another former Pink Floyd member in high regard. When speaking about who he would want to be back on stage with, Gilmour mentioned late keyboardist Rick Wright.

On the other hand, I’d love to be back on stage with Rick Wright,” he said, “who was one of the gentlest and most musically gifted people I’ve ever known.”

Gilmour discussed many different topics in his Q&A, including whether or not he could get Kate Bush back on stage. When Bush was just starting out, a mutual friend passed her demo tape to Gilmour, who was instantly impressed by her work. He paid out of his own pocket for her to record a professional track, which led her to sign a record deal.

As for getting her back on stage, Gilmour said, “Kate Bush is the only person who can get Kate Bush back on stage. I think the shows she did in 2014 at the Hammersmith Apollo were some of the best I’ve ever seen. We went several nights. I’ve tried persuading her recently, actually. Gently.”
