If You’re a 90s Baby, These 5 Forgotten Songs Were the Soundtrack to Your Childhood

Whether your parents had very particular music tastes or you were allowed to run wild with all of the stations on the car radio, you probably heard these five forgotten 90s songs on repeat throughout your childhood. Some of these tracks have seen a few revivals through the years, and others have become somewhat obscure in the 21st century. Either way, they’re bops worth revisiting!

    1. “Sometimes” by Britney Spears

Could any track by Britney Spears be worthy of a spot on a list of forgotten 90s songs? That’s debatable. However, “Sometimes” is a pretty underrated song from the pop queen’s discography. This 1999 hit was just one of many that formed the soundtrack of the turn of the millennium, and it was also yet another hit that proved Spears was here to stay.

    2. “Flashlight” by Fuzzy

Some would consider indie pop and grunge-adjacent band Fuzzy to be one-hit wonders, and it’s hard to argue with that. The band stuck together for the better part of the 90s, but they never really had a hit quite like “Flashlight” again after 1994. It’s a shame, but that hit was really a lot of fun when it first came out.

    3. “Self Esteem” by The Offspring

Pop-punk diehards have never forgotten the 1994 hit “Self Esteem” by The Offspring. This punk rock outfit could have been just another group of Orange County kids who made hardcore music, but they had a spark that everyone noticed. Even relative non-fans of punk enjoyed what they were dishing out. “Self Esteem” went platinum and catapulted the band into rock stardom, and we think it’s pretty well-deserved.

    4. “XXX” by Helium

Mary Timony’s vocals on this 1994 ballad are nothing short of memorable. It’s wild to think that Helium was only together for a few years before disbanding, especially if they were dishing out alternative rock hits like “XXX”. The song made it to Beavis And Butt-Head, people! Give this band its flowers!

    5. “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals

Ah, a nostalgic and classic one-hit wonder from forgotten 90s songs. “You Get What You Give” by New Radicals was one of the biggest one-hit wonders to hit the airwaves in 1998, and it’s still a fun listen decades later. We wouldn’t be surprised if it popped up at proms well into the 2020s; it’s just that good.
