Welcoming Ariana Grande back to Saturday Night Live, the famed singer received the chance to host the legendary show during its historic 50th season. Although thrilled about the chance to host the show, Grande was not the musical guest for the evening. That honor went to the Stevie Nicks. While not the musical guest, that didn’t keep Grande from showing off her wide range of musical talents. But instead of singing her own songs, the singer decided to channel greats like Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus, and even Britney Spears.

While the night featured Grande participating in more than a few skits, the singer’s opening monologue was nothing short of amazing. Besides taking the time to plug her new movie Wicked, Grande promised she would not be performing or doing impressions. That lasted all of about two minutes when she was handed a microphone. Without missing a beat, the star quickly jumped into a musical number about Wicked, Cyrus, Stefani, and Spears.

Ariana Grande Reveals The Dreams Of A Theatre Kid

Already receiving nearly 230,000 likes, the video continues to gain praise. “She actually did what had to be done. From the acting to the singing to the humor, to the dancing. She is one of a kind. No one does it like her.” Another person added, “Is she amazing or what? OMG!!! Her voice is unreal, and the emotion she puts into every note is just next level! Absolutely blown away!”

As for Wicked, Grande expressed how much the role meant to her. Slightly touching on the film during her monologue, the star joked, “It’s awesome, because I’m such a theatre kid. And it’s every theatre kid’s dream to be Glinda or Elphaba.” Grande then remembered another dream often shared by theatre kids. “Well, it’s every theater kid’s dream to lose their virginity. But their second dream is of course to be in Wicked.”

Filling the night with laughs and memorable moments, Grande is sure to find her way back to Studio 8H in the future. But for now, don’t miss Saturday Night Live, airing on Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and available to stream on Peacock.
