Liam Gallagher Didn’t Love That SNL Sketch About Oasis

Well, this isn’t exactly unexpected. On yesterday’s episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL), the cast put on an Oasis reunion of their own and poked a bit of fun at Liam and Noel Gallagher’s past antics and dynamics.

The skit featured Sarah Sherman and James Austin Johnson in the recurring “Weekend Update” segment, where they portrayed the famous Manchester musicians and promised to not break up yet again before their real-life 2025 tour kicks off next year.

Unfortunately for SNL, the reactions to the skit have drawn very mixed reactions from fans of the show, as well as none other than Liam Gallagher himself.

In the sketch, the “duo” argued with one another before breaking into a sudden rendition of their hit song “Wonderwall”, with the lyrics changed to reference their historically volatile relationship.

Viewers weren’t loving it. Some took to social media to lament how “cringey” the bit was. One fan decided to tag Liam Gallagher in a promotional video of the sketch, and his response is about what you’d expect.

“Are they meant to be comedians?” Gallagher responded.

Bad SNL Skits Aside, Fans Are Excited About The Long-Awaited Oasis Reunion Tour

The SNL sketch took place just days after Oasis announced that they would be extending their UK reunion tour to North America in 2025.

Oasis formed back in the 1990s and became icons in the Britpop and rock music genres internationally for some time. However, the two brothers butted heads for much of their time working together, which eventually led to the band going on hiatus in 2009.

Many fans believed that the two rock icons would never grace the stage together again. Their upcoming 2025 reunion tour comes almost 16 years after Oasis initially disbanded. The Gallaghers have been pretty quiet about their relationship and dynamics since the announcement, though Liam has said (quite comically, in good old Liam fashion) that the two brothers have put their differences aside.

“Nope it’s all done peace has prevailed,” Liam posted on X in September. “He’s the man I can’t wait to be on stage with him blowing him kisses in between each song.”

The band, via Liam, has also announced that they will not be doing any interviews ahead of their highly-anticipated reunion tour, due to invasive questions they’ve experienced in the past.
