3 of the Best Stevie Nicks Covers

    1. “Just Like a Woman” (Bob Dylan)

Like most musicians in her era, Nicks understood the importance of Bob Dylan. She even went as far as to cover him. She once delivered a powerfully simple rendition of “Just Like a Woman.” Nicks kept her cover pretty true to Dylan’s original version, but there is no mistaking the magic of Nicks’ vocals.

    Nobody feels any pain

Tonight as I stand inside the rain

Everybody knows that baby’s got new clothes

But lately I see her ribbons and her bows

    Have fallen from her curls

She takes just like a woman

Yes, she does, she makes love just like a woman

Yes, she does, and she aches just like a woman

But she breaks just like a little girl

    2. “Free Fallin’” (Tom Petty)

Nicks has professed her Tom Petty fandom on more than one occasion. Naturally, she has chosen to try her hand at his music from time to time. The cover we’re taking a look at is her take on Petty’s “Free Fallin’”. Nicks and her Fleetwood mac bandmates more than did this song justice.

She’s a good girl, loves her mama

    Loves Jesus, and America too

She’s a good girl, crazy ’bout Elvis

Loves horses and her boyfriend too

    It’s a long day livin’ in?Reseda

    There’s a free-way runnin’ through the yard

And I’m a bad boy, cause I don’t even miss her

I’m a bad boy for breakin’ her heart

    3. “I Still Miss Someone (Blue Eyes)” – Johnny Cash

You wouldn’t immediately think of Nicks as a Johnny Cash fan, nevertheless, she did record one of his songs for her album, The Other Side of the Mirror. “I Still Miss Someone (Blue Eyes)” is very different from Cash’s version, but a cover nonetheless.

At my door the leaves are falling

A cold wild wind will come

    Sweethearts walk by together

    And I still miss someone

I go out on a party

And look for a little fun

But I find a darkened corner

    ‘Cause I still miss someone
