Dr. Dr. Anna Selvan John,, President and CEO of NanoPV Solar, joined our community in 2021, bringing new patented technology that is greatly needed in the solar panel manufacturing industry. Over the next few years, the project and plans continued to grow due to market demands, which affected the size of the project, requiring additional financing and additional acreage to be secured. Plans expanded from a single building NanoPV currently occupies, to multiple buildings over the next few years, including the 62,000 sq. ft. speculative building and an additional 34 acres. There has been an increasing desire within our community to support renewable projects.

NanoPV will invest $ 135M in the current phase. Further expansions and vertical integration of manufacturing solar cells, modules, and components will considerably increase the additional investment at Sumter. NanoPV Solar will establish its corporate home at the Ted Baldwin Business and Technology Park on Martin Marietta Drive. Phase I involves finishing the speculative building and developing an additional 34 acres adjacent to it. Phase II is currently in the planning stage. Led by a solar technology inventor-scientist, Dr.

Dr. Anna Selvan John, NanoPV’s solar panels will play an advantageous role in the U.S. market with IEC, UL, CA, TUV, and RoHS certifications and performance standards. Dr. John is a world-renowned scientist in the field of solar energy, inventing important third-generation solar technology. With over 25 years of experience, his technology and inventions are used all over the world.

In an interview, Dr. John said, “NanoPV is very glad to expand the manufacturing capacity of its most advanced U.S. solar cell and module technology in Americus. Sumter County and the State of Georgia have been true partners for NanoPV for all the years of developing the manufacturing of energy-efficient solar technology, workforce and economy in Americus. NanoPV will continue executing its vertically integrated American Solar Technologies in Sumter
    County, GA.”

NanoPV Solar and the Sumter County Development Authority credit today’s announcement to the enthusiastic support of our Sumter partners. It was important to NanoPV to choose Americus for several reasons: South Georgia Technical College and the State of Georgia, which offers workforce training and a Quick Start Program; Georgia Southwestern University, which provides advanced training; and the Ignite College and Career Academy, which has plans in place to provide a strong foundation for the project. In addition, the strengths and working relationship South Georgia Technical College provided played a crucial role in convincing NanoPV to choose Sumter County. We deeply appreciate the support and involvement of our community partners, without whom this expansion would not have been possible. “The Development Authority fully recognizes the need for energy and the importance of how this company fits within our strategic plan. I have been working on this project for many years, and I am so glad to see it come to fruition,” said Rusty Warner, Executive Director of the Sumter County Development Authority, “NanoPV will create many jobs for our citizens and make a major investment to our tax base. Having worked with several solar manufacturing companies, I believe Dr. John possesses the right personality for us. He understands our requirements perfectly and promises to keep that as his top priority. We expect NanoPV to position to lead the United States in this rapidly growing industry.”

Paul Hall, chairman of the Sumter Development Authority, summarized NanoPV’s effect nationwide: “We are building a strong green community in Sumter County, which will have other offshoot companies clamoring for inclusion. This project not only supports the immediate community through jobs, new citizens, and spending, it also supports the U.S. economy and U.S. energy security.”

More information will be published on our website and Facebook as it becomes available.
