    Two suspects arrested in may 14th shooting

    Two suspects were arrested in the May 14th shooting of 17 year old Michael Gage Grimes, Christopher Darrell Lembrick, Jr., age 19, and Lavarious Jermaine Rumph, Jr., age 18, both from Americus. The shooting occurred in the 500 block of Eastview Drive in Americus. Both suspects have been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commissioner of a felony. The suspects were arrested at a residence on Beale Street in Americus on July first by the Americus Police department in concert with the Sumter County Sheriff Office, the United States Marshall Service, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

    Both suspects are facing additional charges not related to the shooting. Lembrick Jr. is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of schedule I narcotics with intent to distribute, and obstruction of law enforcement.

    Rumph Jr. is charged with possession of a fire arm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of schedule I narcotics with intent to distribute, and giving false name to law enforcement.

    The Americus Police Department asks anyone with additional information to call 229-924-36-77 during their business hours or 229-937-9011 after hours.
