Sink hole repair underway

New public works director Georgia Allen and water and sewer superintendent Lascelles Anderson were working on fixing the sink hole on July 2nd, with an estimate of about two weeks for the fix to be complete.

“We’re just trying to get the hole filled in and open up the road again,” Allen replied, while laying bricks in the damaged storm drain. He noted that the drain had had two holes, which had been patched. He likened brick masonry to putting a puzzle together.

Earth had already been poured into the hole. Public works has plans to grade it, compact it, put rock on it, then either asphalt or cement.
