Double shooting with one dead

On July 27th at approximately 3:23 AM, officers of the Americus Police Department were dispatched to the area of Bessie Mays Circle and Norman Cole Drive in reference to a reported shooting. While in route, officers were advised that two gunshot victims had been taken to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center by private vehicle. Officers, with assistance from the Sumter County Sheriff Office located evidence in front of 109 Bessie Mays Circle and processed the crime scene.
The victims have been identified as Kadarius Washington, age 25 of Cherokee Street Americus and Deandre Raashod Jones, age 28 of Hanson Drive Americus. Kadarius Washington is being treated at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Deandre Jones succumbed to his wounds at the Medical Center. This incident is being investigated jointly by the Americus Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
