Ames girls basketball player Karsyn Pankonen was a close second with 28%.Leslie was one of three Nevada wrestlers to claim an individual title at the Heart of Iowa Conference girls wrestling tournament Jan. 19 at Monroe.<nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate>Leslie competed at 145 pounds and went 2-0 to improve her season record to 31-6 and join her younger sister Ashlyn (110) and Cadence Bushong (140) as conference champions. Leslie pinned Saydel's Peyton Lindahl in 1:39 and West Marshall's Lillian Fischer in 2:49.Weber won male Athlete of the Week with 47% of the vote. Roland-Story boys wrestler Hesston Johnson came in second with 24% and Ames boys swimmer Josh Fisher was close behind him in third with 22%.Weber, the top-ranked wrestler at 120 in 2A, earned another individual HOIC championship for Nevada at the conference meet Jan. 19.Weber took first at 120 with one pin and one victory by decision to go to 21-1 on the season.
