Mya Geffre of Ames and Drew Banks of Colo-NESCO are Ames Tribune Athletes of the Week

Mya Geffre of Ames and Drew Banks of Colo-NESCO are the Ames Tribune female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of June 24-30.

Geffre homered twice for the Ames softball team during the week. During an 11-1 victory as part of a doubleheader split with Mason City on June 24 at Ames, Geffre homered once and drove in three runs. She also went deep during the 7-1 win over Fort Dodge on June 27.

Geffre received 52% of the vote from AmesTrib.com readers. Josie Theilen of Ames was second in the voting.

Banks threw 5 2/3 strong innings to get the win for the Colo-NESCO baseball team during a 9-3 victory over Melcher-Dallas on June 26 at Melcher. Banks gave up one earned run on three hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts to get the win. He also doubled once and drove in a run at the plate.

Banks received 48% of the AmesTrib.com votes. Carter Geffre of Ames finished second in the voting.
