    Kamryn Lande, Jackson Wacha voted the Ames Tribune's female and male Athletes of the Week

    Roland-Story volleyball player Kamryn Lande and Ballard football player Jackson Wacha were voted the Ames Tribune's female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of Sept. 15-21.

    Lande won female Athlete of the Week with 62% of the vote. Colo-NESCO girls cross country runner Elizabeth Erickson took second with 18%.

    Lande came up huge for the Roland-Story volleyball team during its four-set victory over Nevada on Sept. 19.

    She finished the match with 18 kills on a 48.4% kill-efficiency rate. She was also a dominant force on defense with five blocks, including two solo blocks.

    Wacha was voted male Athlete of the Week with 53% of the vote. He won a close vote over Nevada football player Connor King, who received 45%.

    Wacha was a terror on defense for the Ballard football team during its 31-14 victory at Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday.

    He made 10 tackles, with five coming from behind the line of scrimmage, including three sacks.
