AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Young voters in our region are also making their voices heard on Sunday night in the wake of Saturday’s assassination attempt at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.

Local residents express opinions on political landscape following Trump rally shooting

According to a U.S. News poll more than 60-percent of young voters believe this will be one of the most important elections in history. Over in Hampshire County many say they having mixed feelings after Saturday’s event. Some are curious about what this means for both political parties moving forward.

“What would the reverse be? What would Biden look like in this same situation? Would he still be as heroic as Trump is?,” expressed Zeno Doeleman of Amherst.

“People who have violence in they’re heart will always find their ways and do it,” said Renu Pinjarala of Amherst.

Amherst resident Jon Mathew Caballeros told 22News, “Very shocking. Especially because you don’t really see those things happening here in the United States.”

Many local young voters between the ages of 18 to 30-years-old say they still plan to vote in the upcoming election. However, some say they are overwhelmed by the political climate.
