SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Local residents are questioning what’s next, now that President Biden is not seeking re-election for the 2024 presidential race.

Some voters are ready to see someone else take office.

“I supported Biden, but I did feel that it wasn’t going to work. So I am very proud of him,” said Justine Croteau of Holyoke.

Other voters feeling like a weight has been lifted, “I felt relieved. He can finish out his presidency,” expressed Marie Frank of Amherst.

Now the question is who will be the next democratic candidate. Some sharing a few speculations.

“I think Kamala Harris would make a great candidate, and I hope the democrats can come together at the convention,” said Justine Croteau of Amherst.

Voters are eager to see what the democrats present in the weeks ahead with just a few months out until the November election.

“And I’m definitely not voting for Trump, but it’s going to be pretty hard to get me to vote for the democrats either because, they haven’t done a whole lot that’s made my life better recently,” shared Morgan Boes.

The community is feeling uneasy about the gamble, but hoping the weeks ahead bring more answers. The Democratic National Convention is set for Monday, August 19th.
