Mega-chain Oxxo from Mexico joins the US market and plans to replace DK shops in Texas and New Mexico
The owner of Mexico’s Oxxo convenience stores is crossing the border and expanding to parts of West Texas and New Mexico. Fomento Económico Mexicano, or FEMSA, based in Monterrey, Mexico, has agreed to buy the 249 DK convenience stores from Tennessee-based oil refiner Delek US Holdings for $385 million in cash. About 90% of the 77 DK convenience stores operate in Texas, with some in New Mexico and a small presence in Arkansas.

Local Jiu Jitsu national champion finds deeper meaning in the sport
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sarah Souza, 14, is a local Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor who has already achieved national recognition and accolades in the teen orange belt division. She is a back-to-back national champion who recently won each of her fights at the American Nationals by submission. Souza also had a win this year at the Pan-American championship, well known as the largest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition in the Americas.

El Paso Water's $1.2M New Mexico fine dropped in settlement of sewage discharge case
New Mexico’s environmental regulators have withdrawn a $1.2 million fine against El Paso Water as part of a settlement of the lawsuit filed by the city-operated water utility. The fine was issued in June 2022 by the New Mexico Environment Department for alleged violations of environmental regulations tied to El Paso Water’s discharge of sewage into the Rio Grande in 2021. The sewage discharge was caused by breaks in sewage lines in West El Paso. ...
