Ana is survived by her husband, Kevin Morataya; son, Kevin Daniel Morataya; father, Francisco Arevalo; siblings, Dalia Leticia Gimenez, Blanca A. Gimenez, Elsa M. Irene proudly worked at Locascio’s Hardware store for over 30 years where she found countless community friendships. Irene was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.

Southeastern's Artigues chairs 2025 NCAA Division I Baseball Committee
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Southeastern Louisiana University Director of Athletics Jay Artigues has been selected to serve as the chair of the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee in 2024-25. Artigues is entering his fourth year on the committee which is responsible for selecting, seeding and bracketing the entire 64-team NCAA Tournament field. In addition, the committee is tasked with recommending rule changes and revisions to the NCAA Baseball Rules Committee.

Carol Ann Aldrete Cutrer
Carol Ann Aldrete Cutrer, 68, of Ponchatoula peacefully completed her life after a lengthy illness on June 27, 2024, a life she lived in faith and love for her family. Carol was born October 15, 1955 in New Orleans, Louisiana to George and Carol Aldrete. As the oldest of seven children, she grew up in Kenner where she graduated from Grace King High School. Carol excelled at dance and enjoyed her years on the dance team. Upon graduation, she was employed in the Statistics Department at the Army Corp of Engineers in New Orleans where she met the love of her life, Lauritzen “Lott” Cutrer. They married March 8, 1975 and ultimately moved to Ponchatoula where they began managing the Ponchatoula Cleaners. Lott and Carol worked together tirelessly to make a successful career in the Dry Cleaning business by eventually expanding to other cities and renaming the business Downtown Cleaners. Taught to sew by her mother, Carol’s exceptional talent as a seamstress was instrumental to many citizens, businesses, and schools in Ponchatoula, where her tailoring talents were endless for prom and wedding dresses, men’s suits, home décor, costumes, etc. Carol also enjoyed an abundance of her unique sewing talents for her family. She touched many lives with her kindness and willingness to help through her sewing prowess.

Julie Ann Lamonte Brooks, born January 4, 1975, passed away into heaven June 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a graduate of Hammond High School and went on to attend Southeastern Louisiana University where she attained her Master's degree in Business Administration. Julie met the love of her life Christopher Patrick Brooks and the two were married in 2008. Julie was a brilliant, determined, loving person. She lived her life victoriously and never let anything stand in her way. She was employed by the State of Louisiana for 25 years, holding the position of IT Statewide Systems Analyst 2 in the Office of Technology Services. Julie is survived by her husband, Christopher Patrick Brooks; Parents, Peter Lamonte and Evelyn Howes Lamonte; Sister, Christie Lamonte Cheramie (Mark); Brother, Lance Lamonte (Tanya); Nieces and Nephew, Maggie Cheramie, Sofia Cheramie, Priscilla Lamonte and Luca Lamonte. Julie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Margaret and Troy Howes and Joseph and Josephine Lamonte; her uncle, Stephen Howes; her cousin, Nick Vestuto; and her parents-in-law, Danny and Myra Brooks. Julie's family will receive friends and relatives for visitation at New Day Christian Centre, located at 9481 Florida Blvd. Walker, LA 70785 on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5:30 PM until services begin at 7:00 PM.
