Charlie Joe, age 76, went to his heavenly home on Friday, June 28, 2024. To know Charlie Joe was to love him. He was a known hugger and he liked to greet you with a kiss on the cheek. Charlie Joe was known for his tenderheartedness and was always prepared for a joke. He was a big jokester, and he knew just how to put a smile on your face. After high school, Charlie Joe attended New Orleans Instruments and Electronics school where he earned his degree. Later in life Charlie Joe used this degree in the Coast Guard, where he served his country in the Vietnam War. In his free time, Charlie Joe enjoyed boating and fishing. He received his Captain’s license and loved spending time on the water and making hoop nets. He was a volunteer alligator hunter with Louisiana’s Wildlife and Fisheries for 20+ years. Charlie Joe’s accomplishments were recognized in an article published in the Los Angeles times. Above all else, Charlie Joe was an amazing father and an even better “Pop.” From attending every baseball and softball game to never missing a singing performance, Poppie always showed up with full support. He loved to teach his grandchildren new things, and always took the blame for their mischief. Charlie Joe will be forever cherished in the memories of all who knew and loved him. He will never be forgotten.

Mae Jean passed away at her home in Hillsdale, Louisiana, on July 3, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born and raised in St. Helena Parish. She married her high school sweetheart, Hobert, in 1952. Together they raised three children. Mae Jean was a homemaker her whole life. She enjoyed raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren. She had a green thumb and could raise any plant or flower that she wanted to, this often resulted in many total strangers stopping to admire her yard and staying for a cup of coffee. She always welcomed everyone into her home. Within your first few sips of your coffee, you would ultimately receive some type of compliment whether it was your hair, your make-up or your shirt you always left feeling better about yourself. She was one of a kind.

COVINGTON — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who robbed a man at gunpoint while he was using an ATM in Covington Friday night. Deputies say the suspect, described as a black male in dark clothes wearing a mask, approached the victim just before 10 p.m. outside a bank along Highway 21.
