Married Couple Found Dead in Boat Along Wooded NC Shoreline

Along a river in North Carolina, authorities discovered the bodies of a married couple inside a crashed boat, according to Danville Register & Bee.

As several agencies looked for a "overdue boater" early on November 5, crews made the tragic discovery, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The accident occurred close to the Dinah's Landing boat ramp on the Pamlico River. It was some 125 miles east of Raleigh, in the Bath area.

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and the sheriff's office are now working together to investigate the single-boat accident. In a news release, officials stated that first responders began scouring the water at around 2:30 a.m. on November 5 in search of a missing boater, but they did not specify the cause of the accident.

Deputies said that "responding personnel located the crashed vessel in a wooded shoreline near Dinah's Landing in a timely manner." "both occupants were found deceased at the scene."

Charles Bailey,59, and Suzanne Bailey,58, were named as the husband and wife who died tragically. The wildlife commission sent McClatchy News an email stating that the pair resided in Bath.

On November 6, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and wildlife officials postponed providing McClatchy News with more information.
