    A bitter cold front is fast approaching bringing temperatures below 16 degrees tonight in most South Central Virginia areas.


    A strong wind advisory with wind chill factors in the 20's are expected this morning in Virginia.


    The National Weather Service issued this statement earlier:


    "WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...


    WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.


    WHERE...In North Carolina, Surry and Wilkes Counties. In Virginia, Roanoke, Botetourt, Rockbridge, Patrick, Franklin, Bedford and Amherst Counties.


    WHEN...Until 1 PM EST today.


    IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.


    ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chill values this morning will be in the 20s.

    Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

    Take precautions immediately, and it is advised to let faucets drip to avoid busted water pipes due to extreme freezing temperatures. Provide adequate shelter for pets or bring them indoors.
