Winter Weather Advisory for NC & VA Counties

Prepare immediately for slippery road conditions from 4am until 1pm EST today.

Affected counties in North Carolina are Alleghany, Ashe, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin. Grayson County in Virginia is also included in this winter weather advisory.

Take precautions, and avoid travel if possible.

The National Weather Service has issued the following winter weather alert:

"WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...

*WHAT...Mixed precipitation. Total snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of less than two tenths of an inch.

* WHERE...In North Carolina, Ashe, Alleghany NC, Watauga and Wilkes Counties.

In Virginia, Grayson County.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST this afternoon.

IMPACTS...Untreated roads and sidewalks will become slick and hazardous. Bridges and overpasses will be most susceptible to ice.

Instructions: Plan on poor travel conditions. Reduce speed and allow extra time to reach your destination. Postpone travel if possible.
