King Charles III's cancer was "caught early," according to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who gave the country optimism despite the 75-year-old monarch's dire health.

As Prince William, the heir apparent, readied himself to take on more public responsibilities in support of his father, and Prince Harry hurried home to be by his side, Sunak's comments gave the British public fresh insight into the situation.

Only 18 months into his reign as King Charles II succeeded his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Charles made the momentous decision to spend the night at home after learning of his illness and starting his treatment.

The monarch's health setback was revealed on Monday after a "form of cancer" was found during a benign prostate enlargement hospital treatment, according to Buckingham Palace. The palace made it clear that it wasn't prostate cancer, but it declined to say what kind or stage of the disease it was.

Charles is still "wholly positive," the palace said, despite the diagnosis. Still, he will have to postpone engagements and tasks involving the public while managing state matters and official documentation.

In a post on X on Monday night, President Joe Biden hoped for the king's "swift and full recovery."

President Joe Biden wished Charles a swift recovery on Monday night. He acknowledged the difficulties ahead and emphasized the value of optimism and bravery in such situations. “Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship takes hope and absolute courage,” President Biden stated.

The information was made public shortly after the monarch and his older daughter-in-law, Princess Kate, were released from a private London clinic after undergoing medical procedures. Charles had a "corrective procedure" for an enlarged prostate, while Kate, 42, had planned surgery to remove a noncancerous condition from her abdomen.

Charles's oldest son is about to take on more duties in light of his father's condition in order to help support him during his treatment. This week, the Prince of Wales will return to his royal duties, which he had to postpone while his wife received medical attention.
