Man arrested in murder, allegedly offered woman $2K not to call police
BATON ROUGE - A man arrested in a July murder allegedly offered a witness $2,000 not to call law enforcement, officials said. Baton Rouge Police officers arrested Joel Johnson for first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery. An arrest warrant says that in the early-morning hours of July 1, 2024, Johnson killed Byron Irving and shot at another woman.
Off-duty Louisiana trooper arrested, charged with DWI for second time this year
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An off-duty Louisiana State Police trooper accused of driving while intoxicated was arrested for the second time in 2024. Louisiana State Police said Isaiah Gilbert, 28, of Hammond, was stopped after 1 a.m. Monday after his vehicle was seen crossing the divider line while driving south of I-110 in East Baton Rouge Parish.
