Kenai maintenance shop designs backup battery for city's police vehicles
The City of Kenai's vehicle maintenance shop has developed a built-in jump-starting system that can revive a police car with a dead battery. The system is powered by the push of a button underneath the vehicle's steering wheel, which is connected to a self-contained jump unit under the vehicle’s hood.
Seattle Kraken games to air in Anchorage and Juneau for free on MyNetworkTV
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU-TV) — For the first time since the NHL team hit the ice, Seattle Kraken games will air for free to over-the-air viewers in Anchorage and Juneau. Beginning with Seattle’s season opener on Tuesday, Oct. 8, Alaska-based fans can tune in over the air to MyNetworkTV on Channel 5.4 (KAUU in Anchorage/KYEX Subchannel in Juneau) to catch the action. Approximately 70 regular season games will air.
Embezzlement, money laundering and tax evasion: Alaska man sentenced 2.5 years in prison
A Willow man was sentenced to 30 months in prison for embezzling money from the Alaska city of Houston and a Wasilla-based company, then dodging taxes on the money. Jess Adams was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release, pay $1.5 million in restitution to the United States and pay additional restitution to Houston and the equipment company.

Anchorage teen receives highest Girl Scout award for promoting literacy
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Children with visual impairments can often find it difficult to learn to read, but one Anchorage teen is working to make that a little easier. Ashley Conlon received her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can get, for a project that will help visually impaired children experience the world of stories in a different way.
