Nicole Christine Burk, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee was wanted by the Shelbyville (Tennessee) Police Department for criminal homicide in a stabbing Saturday that led to the death of Ronald Wade Travis. Burk was found and arrested in Andalusia after midnight Sunday.

Burk is accused of stabbing Travis in the parking lot of a Shelbyville church before fleeing the scene in a Ford C-Max.

According to law enforcement, a “Be On The Lookout” (BOLO) was issued after license plate readers along multiple state roadways logged Burk’s vehicle traveling in parts of the Florida Panhandle. The vehicle described in the BOLO came into the Andalusia area on US Hwy. 29. An Andalusia police officer spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop that led to Burk’s arrest.

“The Shelbyville City Police Department would like to thank all who assist in the investigation and the arrest,” the Shelbyville Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Burk was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant and was booked into the Covington County Jail with no bond and is awaiting extradition procedures.

A child in the vehicle, reportedly Burk’s son, was safe and was unharmed.
