"Easter Bunny Thief" charged with identity theft

"The Easter Bunny Thief" meets the "long arm of the law". Detectives with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office have been investigating Steven Edmondson since February, after he grabbed a woman's purse from a grocery store then stole items from her storage unit.

While Detectives were able to charge him, they discovered evidence pointing to more crimes.

According to the Sheriff's Office, after months of investigating, evidence shows he stole checks and personal information from mailboxes in Anderson County.

A search warrant on Edmondson's home unearthed more than 160 stolen credit cards, driver’s licenses and social security cards.  On June 12th, he was charged with 11 Felony Counts of Financial Identity Theft and Receiving Stolen Goods. Since then, he has bonded out of the Anderson County Detention Center.

Back in 2023, Edmundson was dubbed the “Easter Bunny Thief” for stealing Easter packages from people’s porches.
