Deputy injured while speaking to barricaded man as large explosion occurred

McDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) — About 10:30 a.m. Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted to a male individual threatening self-harm at a residence near Anderson, Mo. in the 4500 block of E. Hwy 76.

“Deputies were speaking with the individual in an effort to have them exit a building they were inside when a large explosion occurred.”

Quickly Deputies and Anderson Firefighters rescued the male victim from the burning shop building.

Hwy 76 was closed for a short time as the male victim suffering critical injuries was flown via helicopter to a regional hospital.

A McDonald County Deputy was injured, suffering smoke inhalation, removing the victim from the burning structure. The extent of injuries to the Deputy is unknown but we believe them to be non-life-threatening.
