Usually the phrase blow the roof off the place is used as a figure of speech but that was not the case in the Upstate, Thursday morning. Heavy winds and storm activity caused the roof of a building in Downtown Anderson to come off.

Photos surfaced on social media of part of the roof on the ground in front of the City Hall building downtown. Another part of the same roof was still on top of the City Hall building as of 10AM, Thursday morning.

The roof is apparently from one of the buildings still under construction in the Electric City's downtown area.

The storms also knocked trees all over the Upstate, causing those downed trees to block roadways. The downpouring of rain also caused issues with traffic around the Upstate and knocked out power to thousands of Upstate homes.
