    The whereabouts of Anderson native Alexis Ware remain uncertain but her family has not given up on finding answers.

    The family will hold a press conference today at 2625 Anderson Road to draw attention to Ware's disappearance more than two years ago. They will also discuss legislation being proposed that would require the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to resume a missing persons investigation one year after the trail goes cold, at the family's request.

    Ware disappeared after leaving a gas station on Highway 29 in Anderson County on Jan. 30, 2022, according to Anderson County Sheriff's reports. She was last seen driving a red Honda, which was found several days later in a wooded area in McCormick County.

    At the request of the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, McCormick County impounded the car, and a day later, on Feb 3, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office obtained a search warrant for it.

    Since then, the McCormick County Sheriff's Department (MCSO) has been involved in the search after finding the abandoned vehicle in their jurisdiction. A family member called their department on Feb. 1, 2022, with concerns about Ware's possible disappearance.

    Who is Alexis Ware?

    Alexis Ware, originally from Anderson, South Carolina, was 29 years old and the mother of two children when she disappeared. According to ASCO records, She was 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighed around 230 pounds, and had dark brown eyes.

    Ware worked in the beauty and cosmetology industry.

    When was Alexis Ware last seen?

    Ware went missing on Jan. 30, 2022, in McCormick County after leaving a gas station on Highway 29 in Anderson County.

    According to ASCO reports, Katrina Gray contacted their office and filed a missing person report on Feb. 1, 2022.

    Here is the timeline of events in the disappearance of Alexis Ware

    • Alexis Ware was last seen on Jan. 30, 2022.
    • Katrina Gray reported her missing on Feb. 1, 2022.
    • Ware's red Honda was found on Feb. 2 in a wooded area of McCormick County.
    • McCormick County Sheriff's Office performed a grid search the evening of Feb. 3, going 150 yards in each direction into the woods. There were no signs of anything disturbed.
    • MCSO searched 220 acres of private grounds and U.S. Forestry property, using cadaver dogs, with nothing uncovered.
    • On Feb. 8, MSCO fielded a search team for eight hours alongside a state law enforcement helicopter.
    • Checked local boat ramps and nearly 700 acres of shoreline. Also, enlisted local fishermen to help.
    • In a tip taken from social media, MSCO searched Hickory Nob State Park with bloodhounds but found nothing.

    As of June 6, Alexis Ware missing person's case was still being investigated on a daily basis, according to Anderson County Sheriff's Office.
