Furniture delays push back opening of Laurens recycling center
The City of Laurens announced on Friday that the recycling center will not reopen on Monday as previously announced. "Due to some unforeseen furniture delays, we will not be able to open the recycling center on Monday as initially planned," said Lisa Canada, Marketing and Communications Director for the City of Laurens. "We are working diligently to resolve this issue and will have the center ready for use as soon as possible."
New City Budget Includes New Police Officer, Playground Equipment
The Woodruff City Council gave final approval of the 2024-2025 general fund budget, approving the approximately $6.1 million budget unanimously. City Manager Lee Baily told council members that the staff had prepared a very conservative budget that includes some necessary additions to various departments but comes with no tax increase for Woodruff citizens.
Downtown Greenville pedestrian bridge to close for renovations
Eugenia Duke Bridge over the Reedy River in downtown Greenville will be closed for portions of two weeks for renovations. The work includes replacing the pedestrian bridge’s deteriorated pine deck planks with new Thermo Ash decking. An environmentally friendly anti-slip coating will be added to the deck. The bridge structure will also be repainted.

(The Center Square) — South Carolina ranked among the best states for protecting religious liberty, coming in seventh on a ranking of all 50 states. The Palmetto State earned a score of 63.7%, ranking it just ahead of Utah and just behind Ohio, according to the third annual "Religious Liberty in the States" from the Center for Religion, Culture & Democracy, an initiative of First Liberty Institute. CALHOUN FALLS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Town of Calhoun Falls said they have issued a boil water advisory on Friday following a water main break repair.
