Before the rain moved in on Wednesday, there was time to look at, and yes, sometimes sample, what food choices are available at the Allegany County Fair.

Quick observation: There is a lot. Nothing says "county fair" quite like fried dough, cotton candy, popcorn and corn dogs. Don't worry, it's all there.

The 179th edition of the fair continues through Saturday night in Angelica.

If you're hungry, the options are many. Here are five to check out.

    Carolina pork barbecue baked potato

This creation by Oberst Concessions features pork shavings, a generous helping of cheese, sour cream and a gigantic spud still steaming under that generous pile of toppings.

    Deep fried cheese cake

Have a little room left after that massive baked potato? Pick up some deep fried cheese cake from the Oberst Concession on the fair's midway.

Fowler's Taffy caramel and candy apples

Fowler's Taffy has been in business since 1917. That would make them experts in taffy, candy apples and caramel apples. You will find Fowler's Taffy near the 4-H Building at the fair.

    Free cold milk

Milk and a county fair go hand and hand. Coolers full are free for the taking right after entering the fair. Check out the dairy cow barns, where cold milk is available at no cost.

    Sugar Shack ice cream

The Sugar Shack features a variety of maple treats, but the maple syrup ice cream is a big favorite this week at the fair.
