    Don’t let the back to school blues get to you! Get ready to fill your August calendar with the hottest events in town! School might be starting back but there’s no shortage of fun to be had around town.

    Water Play Day at Homewood Library

    Slidin’ into the last week of Summer Reading, and what is better than an inflatable waterslide, mini pools, and cool treats to celebrate? Splash on down to the library for a sprinklin’ of festivities!

    Magic City Carnival at Cahaba Brewing

    Join the Pathways Junior Board at Cahaba Brewing Co for the Magic City Carnival, a fun, end-of-summer event for the whole family! Food, drinks, games, a bounce house, activities for kids and pets, a silent auction and more!

    Entry to the event area is free! Game tickets are $1 each or $15 for 20 tickets. Purchase a wristband for $25 to get UNLIMITED TICKETS!

    $40 VIP Pass includes a beer or mixed drink, a carnival snack food, and 15 game tickets.

    All proceeds will benefit Pathways’ shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness.

    Fairytales and Frogs at the Birmingham Zoo

    Princes and Princesses! Lords and Ladies! Festivities will take place on Henley Park Lawn and are included in the price of Zoo admission for the day (free for Members). All guests (children and adults) are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes while meeting and taking photos with a multitude of royals for a magical day where fairytales come to life. We will be at Henley Park Lawn!

    3rd Annual Dragon Boat Race and Festival at East Lake Park

    Mitchell’s Place Dragon Boat Festival brings the most fun and unforgettable experience to the Birmingham area! See how well your team can compete against other local, corporate, and community teams to raise awareness for early intervention and autism spectrum disorder. This year’s festival is scheduled at East Lake Park near Ruffner Mountain. Please join us for a nice summer day, some friendly competition, a kids-zone, food trucks, a merchant market, music, and more!

    Sidewalk Film Festival

    The 25th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival presented by Regions Bank is returning with a festival footprint that includes the Sidewalk Film Center and Cinema, the Alabama Theatre, the Lyric Theatre, The Kress Building Ballroom, First Church Birmingham, the Alabama School of Fine Arts Dorothy Jemison Day Theatre, Recital Hall and Lecture Hall as well as the Steiner Auditorium at the Birmingham Museum of Art.
